ENG | Personal concept project of a gig poster for a fictitious event by the band Metallica, in response to the CriAtivo challenge, created by Professor Amaury Filho in the Ilustra S/A course, who proposed the creation of art inspired by lyrics from rock songs from the 80s. Here I was inspired by the song Master of Puppets, reading the theme based on a current reality. The song, in my interpretation, talks briefly about a kind of evil creature - the Master of Puppets - who summons someone to be submitted to his rule, under pain and torture and ignoring his own will. I think that the lyrics open up to different interpretations associated with real-life situations, and as the relationship of modern society with social networks and the latest communication technologies has been a subject of concern since they became popular due to a possible addiction, I thought of her as a potential "puppet master" who isolates, controls and manipulates the thoughts, desires and actions of the most susceptible minds.
PT-BR | Projeto conceito pessoal de gig poster para evento fictício da banda Metallica, atendendo ao desafio CriAtivo, elaborado pelo professor Amaury Filho no curso Ilustra S/A, que propôs a criação de uma arte inspirada em letras de músicas de rock dos anos 80. Aqui me inspirei na música Master of Puppets, fazendo uma leitura do tema com base numa realidade atual. A música, na minha interpretação, fala resumidamente sobre uma espécie de criatura maligna – o Mestre das Marionetes - que convoca alguém a ser submetido ao seu domínio, sob dor e tortura e ignorando sua própria vontade. Penso que a letra dá abertura a diversas interpretações associadas a situações da vida real, e como a relação da sociedade moderna com as redes sociais e tecnologias mais recentes de comunicação tem sido um tema de inquietação desde que se popularizaram por conta de uma possível dependência, pensei nela como um potencial “mestre das marionetes”, que isola, controla e manipula os pensamentos, desejos e ações das mentes mais suscetíveis.
ENG | Although the main objective was to develop a gig poster for a concert by the band, I unfolded the art in other publicity pieces, simulating a possible promotional campaign for the event.
